Chair of the Translators Association. Translator of Scandinavian suspense and non-fiction.
I am a native British English speaker and also speak Swedish to a native standard. I have lived in Stockport, Edinburgh, and Uppsala. I am a three-time graduate of the University of Edinburgh: I hold an MA (Hons) in Scandinavian Studies, MSc in Translation Studies, and in 2018 I completed my PhD examining the impact of translated Scandinavian literature on the British literary market during the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. I have been translating commercial and literary texts from Swedish, Norwegian, and Danish into English since 2010.
I served on the SELTA committee for ten years from 2014 to 2024, including six years as Chair from 2018. I'm currently the Chair of the Translators Association, the British trade union for literary translators.
I translate widely for foreign rights agents and am comfortable preparing a translation that can be used in international rights work. I am always adaptable to the demanding timelines required.
