Co-Chair of the Translators Association. Chair of SELTA. Translator of Scandinavian suspense and non-fiction.
I am a native British English speaker and also speak Swedish to a native standard. I have lived in Stockport, Edinburgh, and Uppsala. I am a three-time graduate of the University of Edinburgh: I hold an MA (Hons) in Scandinavian Studies, MSc in Translation Studies, and in 2018 I completed my PhD examining the impact of translated Scandinavian literature on the British literary market during the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. I have been translating commercial and literary texts from Swedish, Norwegian, and Danish into English since 2010. I have served on the SELTA management committee since 2014 and became the association's Chair in 2018. I translate widely for foreign rights agents and am comfortable preparing a translation that can be used in international rights work. I am always adaptable to the demanding timelines required.
